A mysterious mime and copious bouquets of dildos take center-stage of Caleb's grief-party for his brother Ben. Shifting from circus acts to wrestling matches to cowboy duels, Richarda - the mime-for-hire - takes Ben and Caleb on an emotional journey that pulls on every aspect of Ben's trauma as he copes with the passing due date of his wife's miscarried child.

“Water Body”

Written for Kalamazoo Short Play Reading Series 2020

A driven young synchronized swimmer seeks perfection in the pool while struggling to recognize themself outside of it. Left alone with a mannequin in a recreation center storage room, thirteen-year-old Sodawater spins stories of competition, ambition, and hero worship that gradually give way to questions of gender, identity, and selfhood. Water Body is a humorous and poignant coming-of-age monologue about performing who we are—and who we are expected to be.

Written for Queer Theatre Kalamazoo’s 24-Hour Play Fest 2020 over Zoom

Fifteen years after founding the sovereign empire of New Mapletown Nebraska atop a maple tree in his parents' backyard, Emperor Alastriano Finley Becket faces a diplomatic crisis: a neighboring micronation seeks an alliance, his maple syrup economy is collapsing, and rumors about his personal life threaten the future of his empire. Told through playful narration, Zoom-era theatricality, and increasingly absurd political negotiations, The Emperor of New Mapletown Nebraska is a comedic fable about queer self-acceptance, independence, and what it means to claim sovereignty over your own life.
