PITCHFORK, or the great American rodeo on the corner of grant and wood (2023)

PITCHFORK follows a rodeo clown busking on a street corner through an intensely physical and emotionally exposed solo performance. Inspired by the pitchfork at the center of Grant Wood's American Gothic, the work explores masculinity, gender dysphoria, and the exhaustion of gender performance. As moments of humor, bravado, tenderness, and exhaustion collide, a single balloon becomes a recurring symbol of hope, envy, innocence, and impermanence.
